Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the work of United Way's 211 helpline, learning about the significant needs of our neighbors, the investments United Way makes in our communities and the resources made available to people who contact 211. Following a brief presentation by United Way staff, you will visit the call center and listen in as 211's trained Resource Navigators answer live calls from real residents across the region. You'll also engage in a hands-on activity that simulates the challenges people face finding resources to improve their lives.

Volunteer at United Way's Meal Kit Packing event to pack and distribute 3,000 meal kits for students in our community. Each kit will include breakfast and lunch items to ensure children have enough to eat while they are away from school over the holiday break.
IMPORTANT: During this shift, volunteers will help load the boxes into vehicles for distribution. The tasks require repeatedly lifting boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. Loading will take place outside of the convention center.
The event will take place at the David. L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Information on parking options will be sent via email prior to the event. United Way is unable to reimburse for any parking expenses.
