Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the work of United Way's 211 helpline, learning about the significant needs of our neighbors, the investments United Way makes in our communities and the resources made available to people who contact 211. Following a brief presentation by United Way staff, you will visit the call center and listen in as 211's trained Resource Navigators answer live calls from real residents across the region. You'll also engage in a hands-on activity that simulates the challenges people face finding resources to improve their lives.

Assist United Way with distributing nearly 35,000 books to various agency partners at Acrisure Stadium. Volunteers will move and load boxes into the vehicles as partners arrive. Big Book Drop is one of United Way's most sought-after volunteer opportunities. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, please sign up for only one shift. Thank you.


Big Book Drop is made possible with support from Grant Thornton, the CentiMark Foundation, KPMG and the Birmingham Foundation.


Since the Big Book Drop started in 2019, United Way has distributed nearly 214,000 books to nonprofit organizations, schools and day cares focused on literacy through this event. With your help, we hope to bring that total to a quarter million books at this year's Big Book Drop!


Please note, most volunteers will be repeatedly lifting boxes weighing up to 20 pounds throughout the day. Volunteers will be split into teams and will have repeated break times.

This event will see nearly 35,000 books distributed to children across our five-county region to help them build their at-home libraries and instill a life-long love of reading. Join us at Acrisure Stadium, in the Great Hall, for the event. Big Book Drop is made possible with support from Grant Thornton, the CentiMark Foundation, KPMG and the Birmingham Foundation.
