Poverty Spiral and Racial Wealth Gap Simulations with Center of Life

Description
Join United Way as we facilitate the Poverty Spiral simulation and the Racial Wealth Gap simulation with Center of Life!

The Poverty Spiral provides an opportunity to increase empathy towards those in our region who experience poverty and better understand the decision-making required to survive in financial instability. This simulation requires you to put yourself in the shoes of someone else and face situations without clear solutions. The Poverty Spiral Simulation will take place from 10:30am-12pm.

During the Racial Wealth Gap simulation, you will learn about the 13 federal policies and practices that have contributed to the racial wealth gap, as well as some of the work that is being done to address this wide gap. The Racial Wealth Gap Simulation will take place from 1-3pm.

We hope that these interactive and impactful experiences will leave you with an open mind, challenge your preconceived notions about poverty, increase awareness of the inequities faced by many of our Southwestern PA neighbors, and ask yourself, "What next?"

This event will take place at 134 E. Elizabeth Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15207. If you have any questions, please reach out to Allaina Wagner at allaina.wagner@unitedwayswpa.org
